While wealthier nations push the boundaries of innovation and proudly showcase achievements, many in the Global South are left to repurpose what others discard—creativity shaped not by abundance, but by necessity.
This flag collection is composed of 30 abstracted world flags painted on repurposed billboard tarpaulin. Exhibited in the MFA Graphic Design Biennial, WORLD UNFAIR is a statement about the long going state of the world, a project inviting reflection on the realities of the uneven playing field.

This contrast became deeply personal when I arrived at a prestigious art school, only to face the financial challenges that often accompany coming from a country with a weak currency.
I could not afford to have a tarpaulin printed in America for my graduate studio practice, yet I still wanted to realize this concept. I had no option but to repurpose.
This is a studio project that was prompted from a specific archival piece on a Time Capsule from the New York World Fair of 1939.
WORLD UNFAIR start of an ongoing reflection and exploration of global design, global events, and the inequality of progress and innovation.
